Scuba Diving in Cancun for Beginners
Your instructor begins with an introduction to scuba equipment, basic diving techniques and important safety procedures. You will then practice the skills you need in shallow, controlled water before heading out for your ocean dives.
Your First Scuba Diving Experience
The program gives you time to become comfortable breathing underwater and using the equipment before going into the ocean. Your instructor will work with you on the basic skills needed for the dives and answer questions before you continue.Once the introductory training and shallow-water skills are complete, you will make two guided ocean dives with a PADI professional. This gives beginners the opportunity to experience Cancun's underwater environment while diving under direct supervision.
Two Guided Ocean Dives in Cancun
Your two ocean dives take place after the introductory training is completed. Dive sites are selected based on conditions and suitability for beginner divers.During the dives, your instructor remains with you while you explore the reef and marine life. The goal is to give first-time divers a comfortable introduction to actual ocean scuba diving rather than simply practicing skills in shallow water.

Schedule:Daily departures. Training begins at 12:00 PM, followed by the boat dives at 2:15 PM.

The minimum age for the PADI Discover Scuba Diving program is 10 years old.
PADI Discover Scuba Diving allows open-water dives to a maximum depth of 40 feet (12 meters). Your actual diving depth depends on the dive site, conditions and your comfort level.
Your program begins at 12:00 PM with instruction and shallow-water skills practice. After completing the training, you join the 2:15 PM boat trip for two guided ocean dives with a PADI professional.
Your two ocean dives can include beginner-appropriate Cancun dive sites such as MUSA and nearby reefs. The sites used depend on conditions and the dive plan for that day.
The Discover Scuba Diving program is $179 per person and includes the introductory training and two guided ocean dives. The mandatory $10 Marine Park Fee is not included.
