Cenote diving is one of the most unique diving experiences available to certified divers staying in Cancun. The freshwater cenotes of the Yucatan Peninsula are known for extremely clear water, limestone formations, stalactites, stalagmites and natural light entering through openings in the cavern ceiling.

The cenotes we dive are located south of Cancun in the Riviera Maya. Our cenote diving trips include round-trip transportation from designated hotels in the Cancun Hotel Zone and resorts south of Cancun, making it easy to experience cenote diving as a day trip from Cancun.

We dive several different cenotes depending on conditions and the experience level of the divers. All dives are guided, and rental scuba equipment, wetsuits, dive lights, lunch and purified drinking water are included.

Non-diving family members and friends can also join the trip with our cenote snorkeling option.

Non-diving family members and friends can travel with the divers and spend the day snorkeling in the freshwater cenotes. The snorkeling areas offer clear water, limestone formations and open cavern areas while the certified divers complete their cenote dives.

What Is Cenote Cavern Diving?

Cenotes are natural openings in the limestone that provide access to the extensive freshwater systems beneath the Yucatan Peninsula. Some cenotes have large open-water areas, while others lead into overhead cavern environments with limestone formations and natural light visible from the entrance.

The cenote trips offered here are guided recreational cavern dives for certified scuba divers. We do not offer cave diving. Divers remain within the cavern zone and follow the guide through established routes appropriate for recreational diving.

Cenote diving is very different from reef diving in Cancun. There are no ocean waves or currents, and the freshwater is exceptionally clear. Depending on the cenote, divers may encounter stalactites, stalagmites, submerged limestone formations, haloclines and beams of sunlight entering through openings above.

Our divers follow an experienced cavern guide and remain within the recreational cavern environment. Cave diving involves penetration beyond the recreational cavern zone and requires specialized cave-diving training and equipment. We do not offer cave diving.
